Deputy Mayor Cllr. Cheryl Johnston was delighted to open the Female Entrepreneur Conference at Galgorm Resort & Spa on 8th March 2018. The event was hosted by Causeway Enterprise Agency and Women In Business. Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council were delighted to co-sponsor the event. The theme was “Be bold for progress” and provided a fantastic forum for female entrepreneurs to network and learn from each other. Key note speakers included broadcaster and publishing entrepreneur and former Dragon in the popular television series Dragon’s Den, Norah Casey and Grainne Kelly the inventor of Bubblebum the world’s first inflatable booster seat for children.
The theme of the conference this year was “Your business in a digital world” and was designed to inspire all delegates by providing them with world-class high quality speakers/ role models who shared their views on future proofing business. Practical workshops dealing with marketing in a digital world and keeping your business safe in a digital world allowed delegates to hear key practical solutions that could be put in place. Sarah Travers former BBC broadcaster and director of Bespoke Communications was Master of Ceremonies.
Two hundred and twenty females attended the event receiving real, tangible information from not only the key speakers but a number of female entrepreneurs including Tracy Hamilton MASH direct, Terese Charles Tech Entrepreneur, Edel Doherty Beyond Business Travel and Paula McIntyre Celebrity Chef.
The conference was a resounding success and councils support to such activities continues reinforce the strategic objective of growing the economy in Mid and East Antrim.
