Growing a successful small business is hard work! One of the toughest challenges that business owners face is how to move from being the ‘doer’ to building and managing a team and leading the business. Few owners have formal training in leadership or management so this taster workshop introduced attendees to some practical leadership and management tools which could help design, build and shape their organisation to ensure healthy future growth.
Key speaker was Arlene McDowell who has over 17 years’ consultancy experience. To date she has worked with more than 800 businesses on a one-to-one basis. She is an accredited business adviser and trainer, and a qualified executive/business coach. Her work over the last five years has focused on leadership and management development.
Also speaking was Helen Smyth from the Labour Relations Agency who gave guidance on creating a work environment conducive to employee mental health and wellbeing.
